About the course

This self paced class will teach you everything you need to know to offer Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) in a primary care, midwifery or gyn practice. The 8 sections of the class will cover:

  • Providing conception assistance vs infertility treatment: introduction to the midwifery model of fertility care

  • How to center queer and trans patients in care

  • Statistics: IUI success and low intervention IUI care in queer and trans and heterosexual populations

  • Mastering fertility awareness method, ovulation identification, and fertility tracking tools

  • Patient screening, preconception visits, and follow up care

  • Sperm counseling, handling, and hiccups

  • Performing the IUI procedure

  • Caring for transgender people

  • Understanding infertility, and when to refer

  • Running an IUI business

Instructor

Ray Rachlin

Ray Rachlin LM, CPM (she/they) is a midwife, author, queer fertility expert and educator based in Philadelphia. Ray has been providing queer centered fertility care and IUI, community midwifery care, and provider education through their practice Refuge Midwifery since 2017. Ray’s work as a midwife and educator led to becoming an author, and in 2023, her groundbreaking how-to family building guide Babymaking For Everybody co-authored with midwife Marea Goodman, was published. Ray's work has been featured in Vogue, Cosmo, Evidenced Based Birth, Motherly, and Mombian.
